A member asked:

Does anti depressants really help stop smoking ah ah ah how do you know that it is working?

Some do: Antidepressants that stimulate norepinephrine and Dopamine help eg. Buproprion. My patients say that it makes the cigarettes taste bad and reduces their desire to smoke. Tobacco is addicting and sessation leads to depression and irritability and depression and antidepressants help this.

Bupropion: Bupropion/ Wellbutrin sold as Zyban is used for smoking cessation. My patients have found it very helpful.
