With assistance: If the fallopian tubes are surgically removed or if they were absent at birth, the sperm and egg cannot get together for conception to occur naturally. However, if the uterus and ovaries are functional, that woman likely could still bear children with the assistance of an infertility specialist by undergoing ivf.

With intervention: Pregnancy is possible with intervention like in-vitro fertilization. Fallopian tube finger-like projections capture an egg after ovulation. There it is fertilized. 5 days of wavelike motion takes it to the uterine cavity where it implants. Without tubes, chances are low for egg and sperm to meet. If fertilized it may implant anywhere. With in-vitro, fertilized eggs are placed within the uterus.
