A member asked:

I have had breakthrough bleeding for 15 days. i have a history of ovarian cysts, but do not have the abdominal pain. is this most likely a cyst?

Hormone change: Women who have ovarian cysts do so because of hormone imbalance. You could have a cyst and not have pain, but you may still need to treat the bleeding abnormality even if there is no cyst.

Not the cyst: The cyst itself does not cause you to have breakthrough bleeding. If you do not ovulate, you may have many small ovarian cysts, each producing estrogen. The constant estrogen stimulation of the uterus can result in breakthrough bleeding.
