Need more info: Need to know where in general your foot hurts, top, bottom, inside, outside of foot. Is the pain only when you walk or at rest also? Activites you do, job of sitting, standing all, help in making a better diagnosis. Try to describe the pain better, sharp, dull, tingling, etc.

If you have a : Soft tissue injury like a tendonitis or a nerve injury like a neuroma or entrapment these will nto show on an x-ray. Not all foot conditions can be seen on x-ray. X-ray only shows bone. A stress fracture may also not be seen the first time looking at an x-ray but may be seen on a subsequent x-ray. The doctor should have a working differential diagnosis of what your condition may be.
