Get rechecked.: Sometimes a fracture is not obvious on the first x-ray taken in the first day or so of the injury and is obvious a week later. Also, sometimes the ligament damage may be severe enough that even without a fracture you need to have the ankle immobilized. Go back to your doc since you are worse! Consider seeing a podiatrist or an orthopedist.

Possible; talk w doc: X-ray may rule out a break and, while appropriate, it doesn’t always give a good sense of what’s going on in soft body tissue. While you may do things like ankle elevation above your heart on pillows or a chair while lying down or ankle wraps, 10 days without improvement or worsening at any time is cause to get back in touch with your doctor for more assessment.
