Yes: If it a simple abscess, it should be able to be excised after the acute infection resolves. It may represent a condition called hidradenitis suppurativa, a chronic infection that occurs in the groin and armpits. This generally needs to be completely removed surgically and the defect either skin grafted, allowed to heal on its own, or closed with local healthy tissue.
