Unsure: Fibromyalgia is difficult to treat. There are medications that can be helpful, and there are studies that support medical management.

Avoid Opiods in FM: The complex pain of fm, sometimes described as "all over, " is associated with increased pain sensitivity and can be "triggered" by arthritic, neurological or degenerative conditions. It is considered a complex disease in which those genes that control pain pathways are involved. Opioids are not indicated and can, in fact, worsen symptoms and function. Sedating antidepressants may be of help.
