Beta-blockers/ACEI: Diastolic properties in the heart are improved by slowing heart rate ( lengthens the time of diastolic filling and relaxing the muscle (to enhance compliance and improve dastolic filling). Beta-blockers like Carvedilol have shown benefit in this setting as ave acei/arb agents. Calcium blockers may also help nicely in this setting. If diastolic failure, gentle diuresis might help.

Diastolic dysfunctio: Diastolic dysfunctio is abnormal relaxation of the heart muscle. This is frequently seen in patients as they age. Medication that slows heart rate helps treat this such as beta blockers. Mild diastolic dysfunction frequently requires no further treatment.
