What could cause pain in upper outer thigh after appendectomy?

Meralgia: Possibly, surgical positioning, or laying on your side postoperatively, may have compressed a sensory nerve, the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. (meralgia paresthetica). This may well reverse over a few weeks. Other possibilities maybe hip, low back issues, etc. Often a simple exam demonstrates what has occurred.

Nerve: The lateral femoral cutaneous nerve could have been damaged by the inflammation from the appendicitis. It should recover in weeks to months without treatment.
