A member asked:

What are the characteristics of nausea associated with brain tumor?

4 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

It depends: Initially, a tumor may produce pressure on the centers of the brain that produce nausea and vomiting. Chemotherapy and radiation effects can produce nausea. Residual damage to the base of the brain can cause persistent nausea. Just anxiety concerning the diagnosis can cause nausea. You need to discuss these issues with your doctors.

Variable: Morning vomiting without warning is classic for a specific tumor of childhood. Brainstem tumors cause episodic vomiting without nausea. Most adult tumors cause fatigue, lack of motivation, disinterest in food and inability to tolerate food or drink. Chemo and radiation can cause severe nausea that is nearly constant.
