High BUN and RF: Heart failure, dehydration, or a diet high in protein can make your BUN level high. Liver disease or damage can lower your BUN level. Thus, watch your protein intake. Talk with your doctor and your dietician about foods that are high in essential amino acids. This will give you protein building blocks and help better manage your bun.
