Healthful diet: Lean protein, good fats, low glycemic carbohydrates, fruits & veggies, whole grains; avoid fast food & simple sugars. Portion control is key: use salad plate instead of dinner plate; no second portions, drink glass of water before eating (partly fills stomach so feel full sooner). Combine diet with moderate exercise to burn off calories. Aim for 2 lbs per week. Support groups help.

Eat differently: To lose weight, we don't want people to "diet" and restrict the amount that they eat. Rather, we want you to eat differently. Increase vegetables, fruits, healthy fats (salmon, nuts, seeds, avocados, olive oil, etc), and protein. Reduce carbs and only eat "brown carbs" like whole grain bread, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, etc. Stop eating highly refined & processed foods. Drink water, never soda.

NOT Eating is NOT: The answer. Your body will go into starvation mode and your metabolic rate will drop. This means that you will then easily gain weight.
