A member asked:

I've had 15-20 demyelinating brain lesions for 10 years, i'm now 30. ms was ruled out. could the lesions by themselves still affect my health?

Yes / no: If you don't have ms, you do have something wrong. Have you had a recent mri? Have you had a spinal tap? Are your symptoms progressive? Lesions already present won't cause new symptoms. But the disease you have (whatever it is) could cause more lesions. The more brain affected, the less you have functioning. In other words, less brain, worse health.

Nonspecific: White matter lesions can be nonspecific and can be associated with prior head trauma, migraine, and even pre-natal or peri-natal issues of no consequence. If the lesions have not changed over the years, there is likely little concern. However, if MRI of neck not done, so far, might be worthwhile to be totally sure there are no additional lesions there.
