Sounds like : An x- ray of the foot would be a good logical start. Bone pain on the top of the foot could be arthritis or an exostosis which is a fancy name for a spur. See a podiatrist and have the foot x- rayed.

Tendonitis: If it is in the top of your foot it sounds like tendonitis. Use heat to the area and stretch.
