Is having an abdominal/pelvic ct scan to check for kidney stones dangerous?

No: A ct scan to assess for kidney stones is not dangerous. If one gets multiple ct scans frequently, the radiation from these studies can potentially cause future abnormalities due to cumulative dose of the radiation.

I had a abdomen ct scan performed for kidney stones and a relative change in sigmoid caliber was noted, with no evidence of mass lesion. A follow up colonoscopy was recommended which did not reveal any findings. Are there common explanations/causes?
