Probable ACL tear: The acl is an important stabilizer of the knee. It prevents forward translation of the tibia bone. If torn, it may result in knee instability (buckling). Depending on age and athletic activity of patient it may need to be surgically reconstructed. Surgery is technically demanding and is usually performed by sports medicine fellowship trained orthopedic surgeons.
