Pain and weakness...: ...as well as instability are not always directly related. Some patients have a high tolerance for pain, and still have weakness or instability about the joint. Assuming that your problem is in the knee (and not related to other problems like the nerves, muscles, low back or brain), then you most likely have an old injury such as an ACL or meniscal tear.
