Overuse-related: Most likely you have developed carpal tunnel syndrome secondary to repetitive and forceful gripping over the years. Usually this is accompanied by pain and/or numbness in the hand and fingers. If only cramps occur, without sensory changes then another condition may be present such as muscle disease, metabolic abnormalities, or very rarely, segmental dystonias like writer's cramp.

Dystonia?: This could be a dystonia. Possobly be a nerve entrapement go see your doc and he may order some labs and an emg-ncs.
