Occasionally: If a newborn with trisomy 18 or 21 has problems at birth as many do, a neonatologist may be one of the team needed for care.Heart defects, intestinal abnormalities or other issues may require their services if the local peds or fp needs their help. Their most common patient are premi's but they care for other newborns with special needs.
