For what problem ?: Group b strep is a common visitor in the female genital tract and its most dangerous infections involves newborns who acquire the germ in childbirth. These newborns can develop sepsis and die within 24 hours. Multiple studies have shown that women who are colonized with gbs cannot reliably rid their body of the germ with oral meds. It is given IV during labor with good result.
