Just diagnosed with strep throat, would like to take ampicillin in lieu of amoxicillin because i already have it. what is proper dosage each day?

Strep theiat: Please make sure your medicine is not expired and you have enough to cover 10 days as partially treated infection causes increased rate of resistance. The dose is 500 mg twice daily for 10 days.

250mg 4xday x10 days: Normal dose would be 250mg, 4 times a day, for 10 days. Be sure medication you have is not expired. Hope this helps. Best of luck. Dr R

Dose ampicillin: 1 Gram or 1000 milligrams a day for 10 days is the recommended treatment for a 50+ kg adult.. It can be taken in 1 dose. It is often helpful to take Probiotics to help your bowel flora stay healthy. I hope you feel better.
