Why would you?: Tongue piercing is not a medical procedure and no surgeon will do such a thing during jaw surgery. Furthermore, tongue rings fracture teeth overtime.

Jaw surgery: I recommend taking your piercing out prior to your surgery. This could get dislodged to your lungs.

NO!: Gone are the days of the "barber surgeon"; todays medical ethics dictate proper procedural behavior. I believe that any surgeon who would place a tongue piercing during another procedure should be considered morally bankrupt and scrupulously avoided. Could it be done? Yes. Should it? No!
