Common, not deadly: Skin cancer is very common, but thankfully most skin cancers (basal cells and squamous cells) are easily cured and rarely recur if treated appropriately. Early stage melanomas also have a high cure rate. All skin cancers can be dangerous. Look for skin lesions which grow, ulcerate, change color, bleed or cause other problems. Melanomas are recognized by abcd's. If in doubt, go see your doctor.
