Critical area: The hypothalamus is a critical area, depending on the extent of the stroke you can have wide-ranging symptoms from coma to the inability to regulate basic bodily functions (e.g. Temperature). Some of these basic control circuits will be able to find a new stable state with time but not all of them and strokes in this area may have profound and permanent symptoms.
