Hardly: Abdominoplasty is a major operation that removes excess skin and fat from the lower part of the abdomen and, more importantly, repositions the muscles of the abdominal wall in the midline. It generally takes about 3 hours and requires general anesthesia. It can be done as an outpatient or with a short hospitalization. It has all the risks of any major operation..Hardly a scam!

Depends on surgeon!: Abps-certified plastic surgeons are trained and experienced in the details of tummy tuck. Other doctors with little or no training in plastic surgery (who may be certified by "other" boards, some bogus) can do this surgery, and the results can be horrifying. Even plastic surgeons aren't perfect, but at least we have the complete training and experience to minimize risks and poor results!

No: A scam is something that doesn't do what it claims to do. An abdominoplasty most definitely tightens the abdominal wall and removes extra skin. The trade off is the scarring which can be camouflaged beneath a bikini in most cases.

Bizarre question: Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a tummy tuck, is a popular procedure that is performed to correct changes not treatable with diet and exercise alone: lax skin after pregnancy or weight loss, localized fat, and/or muscle separation. It should be done by a board-certified plastic surgeon in a accredited facility.

Not at all.: It's a powerful operation that can restore the tummy shape very nicely. Many women just want to fix the "wear & tear" that pregnancy has done to their tummies!

Body contouring : An abdominoplasty is a very useful operation to improve the muscle tone of the abdomen, remove both skin and fat. For the right candidate there can be remarkable results. This is a major surgical procedure that should be performed by a board certified plastic surgeon in a licensed or accredited operating room.

No.: It can be a very powerful operation. It's for those folks with extra skin and soft tissue. Many who have lost weight and have extra skin want the excess taken away. Some just want to fit into pants better. The abdominal muscles may also have spread out with pregnancy or just over time. The plication sews them back together. This flattens the tummy. See a board certified plastic surgeon.

Careful selection of plastic surgeon very important.
