Decay: Many times when i see teeth breaking off there is a tooth decay component to it. Sometimes this means that there is a large cavity in the tooth, and sometimes it means there was a large one at some point in the past and the tooth has since been very heavily restored (very large fillings). Your dentist should be able to tell you why he/she thinks your teeth are breaking.

Decay undermines tooth enamel, as do restorations to replace damaged tooth material. Hard foods (ice/hard candy, etc) cause fractures. Malocclusions cause stress. Pernicious habits, genetic disorders, and systemic diseases are also possibilities. Acidic foods weaken teeth, as do eating disorders.. Also look up "abfractions." Please see your Dentist. Fractured teeth require immediate attention.
