See a therapist: Psychotherapy can be very helpful with depression, and the results can be more long-lasting than medication. Also you can make sure you're getting enough rest, exercise, and healthy diet -- staying away from alcohol and other mood and sleep-disruptive substances. Your family doctor can check for general health conditions too. Get yourself a good psychologist and work with him or her. Be well.
