Drug abuser: Never ask your doctor for a specific medication - if you ask for it you will never get it. Your doctor selects medications based on your complaints, the exam, evaluation of tests etc...And not on your desire or preference.

POSSIBILY: Now a days patients are very aware of medications that are available. Most do not know the names unless they have taken them at some point. Let the physician know the symptoms and if they are new or previously diagnosed and treated. Let the physician suggest meds unless it is something you were specifically prescribed in the past that was beneficial.
