See oncologist: There are factors that will dictate an approach to stage 3 melanoma. Once the melanoma has been surgically removed and the lymph nodes evaluated factors that will affect your treatment include the depth of the melanoma in mm, mitotic index, presence of ulceration. There is a new medicine which can be used but an oncologist will determine who is a good candidate.

The most common treatment is surgical removal of the lymph nodes, sometimes followed by additional treatments ("adjuvant") with immunotherapy, particularly interferons. There are also experimental drugs being tested. Some patients may receive radiation therapy.
