Probably habit: I have had at least one patient who developed that habit as well. He had no other symptoms and his exam was absolutely normal. He didn't even complain or think there was a problem until his mom thought it was not ok for him to do so. It waxed and waned over time but got better on its own. If it is not too bad, a gentle reminder may be enough. If it is bad or getting worse, see a psychologist.
