Not your heart: This is not what heart pain feels like. Period. Is it worse with a deep breath or cough? If so, consider pleurisy. Otherwise, it's very likely to be muscular in nature. Try changing position or taking a deep breath (which stretches muscles) when it occurs.

CP: Difficult to pin point the cause of your stabbing chest pain. May be esophageal spasm could be one of the causes. Recommend seeing your doctor for full evaluation.
