A member asked:

In men what makes psa elevate?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Age, infxn, cancer: As men age, the psa slowly increases. The mere larger size of the gland probably has to do something with the level as well, infections can cause increase. Ejacluation and do so temporarily. An of course the much publicized/hype is the cancer causing the elevation of psa--hence screening psa test, which is now known to be not so good a test for this purpose. Consult doc. Good luck.
