RMSF: Early diagnosis even without the characteristic rash is of prime importance. The CBC will show it. The earlier the treatment is instituted, the better the prognosis.

CBC not diagnostic: CBC takes just a few minutes to perform, but is not diagnostic of rmsf. There are specific tests for this infection. If in doubt, ask your doctor to start treatment on clinical grounds.
