A member asked:

Just had a cbc taken, my tsh was 4.76, the range on my report was 4 50, but my doc didn't treat me, is this high enough to get medication? also, is this underactive or overactive? could stress cause it, and if so can it go back to normal w/ no meds?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your thyroid is underactive and you may benefit from replacement therapy. Wish you good health!
