See the doctor: If it is chronic you have to rule out conditions like allergy, asthma, whooping cough and reflux. You may need to see a specialist like pulmonologist or infectious disease expert.

Workup/Mgt: There are many conditions which can cause chronic cough. Sometimes objects or food are aspirated into the airway and may cause prolonged symptoms. Other possible causes include infections, asthma, anatomic narrowing of the airway. I would suggest a follow up visit and imaging study of the chest. If she is able to perform lung function tests, then this will provide additional information.
