22 months toddler had fever, croup and runny nose. fever stopped and symptoms got better but didn't go away for about 2 weeks. today the fever is back and cough and runny nose is as bad as it was in the beginning. what meds can we use?

Depends on the child: A gap of 2 weeks between symptoms suggests the two illnesses are different, not just one long one. Fever with symptoms of upper respiratory infection in a fully immunized 22 month infant are more suggestive of a viral infection. Fever can be controlled with paracetamol as needed, moist air and honey can be used to control cough. It's extremely important to hydrate. Avoid cough suppressant.

Please discuss a course of steroids with your Pediatrician. Treat post nasal drip by keeping the nasal passages clear. Monitor temperature, offer fluids and please follow up. There may be a secondary bacterial infection, a different viral infection or recurrent croup. Avoid smoke exposure.
