Can anxiety symptoms such as numbness to left of the body cause a stroke?

No: Numbness caused by anxiety is "benign" and can lead to a stroke. If you have other symptoms such as limpness in an extremity associated with numbness that is not explained otherwise, i would see a doc.

Horse before cart: Anxiety may cause stroke only if it is extremely prolonged and severe to the point of causing blood vessel disease or severe hypertension resulting in stroke. Anxiety can cause numbness in various body parts but before assuming a psychiatric cause of neurologic symptoms, see a neurologist.
