4 to 8 weeks: Most of us don't use sutures for tonsillectomy. If you had a uvulopalatopharyngectomy or uppp that usually requires sutures. On follow up at 4 to 6 weeks we may try to cut any remaining sutures if they are annoying. Sutures are sometimes placed to control bleeding, or in a technique with no cautery they might be used to control bleeding. As above, they should be gone after a couple of months.
