Maybe: Most people with diverticulosis don't hurt. When you have pain, fever, or change in your bowel habits, you are dealing with diverticulitis and you should check in with your doctor.

Infection.: If you know that you have diverticulosis, pain could signal the onset of diverticulitis, which is an infection that would require antibiotics. If this is you, then you need to see your doctor right away. With infection, you'd likely also have fever, chills and diarrhea. Diverticulosis itself would not cause pain.
