After pap smear came back with squamous cell carcinoma, , my doctor only recommended a second pap smear in six months. what would you recommend?

Confirm diagnosis: Be absolutely sure you have the correct diagnosis. Have your doctor sit down and go over the result with you. Squamous cell carcinoma is frank cancer of the cervix , needs at minimum a biopsy to confirm and then treatment. Other precancerous lesions such as low grade squamous intrepithelial lesions can be followed with a pap in 6 months, but that also depends on age.

Agree w Answer: I agree with dr louie-ng. If the pap report says exactly what you said then it absolutely necessary you get a conformational biopsy and a referral to a gyn oncologist for treatment. Cancer can not wait 6 months. Please get a second opinion as soon as possible. Take control and get clarification.
