Probably not: Insomnia can worsen depression but doesn't usually cause it. In fact, for many people, waking up early, on purpose (and getting up out of bed) may have an antidepressant effect. And in our mood disorder clinic the most consistent association between sleep and mood is that staying in bed past your usual waking time increases depression- and ironically fatigue as well...
