A month: It will take 4 to 6 weeks to start feeling no pain or swelling. In can take months for your surgical scar to get back to a point where it s not so noticeable.

Thyroidectomy: Long term effects of thyroidectomy depends on how much of the thyroid is removed. If only part of the thyroid is removed, the remaining portion typically takes over the function of the entire thyroid gland. You may just need to visit with your provider after the surgery to make sure everything is going well. Have your doctor order a thyroid panel to help assess the need for hormone therapy.

Thyroid Recovery: 2 factors. 1) recovery from surgery. Typically basic recovery from neck surgery is on the order of 5-10 days at which point surgical pain and initial wound healing complete. 2) if total thyroidectomy there will be a period of time needed to find a new balance to your thyroid replacement. In some cases thyroid replacement may be delayed until confirmation is made that all tissue was removed.

Can someone tell me how long will it take for my incision to heal after thyroid surgery?

Thyroid incision: The incision will heal fairly quickly. Within a couple weeks it should be minimally pink/red, nontender and free of any sutures or closure material. It will be susceptible to effects from sun exposure for up to a year. I generally recommend at least 50spf sunscreen on any head and neck incision with exposure for at least 1 year.

How long does it take for the strips to fall off after thyroid surgery dr said they would dissolve?

Strips or sutures?: Steri-strips (nylon-reinforced adhesive strips) usually come loose in less than a week. Some suture material dissolves after time; others (on the skin) need to be removed (many incisions are now closed with staples, which are removed when the incision has healed sufficiently).
