Dysphagia is serious: I have several concerns about your question: 1) baking soda can hurt you when taken indefinitely; 2) difficulty swallowing in the context of chronic indigestion suggests a problem that can't be ignored; 3) many care options exist for patients without insurance--this is not a good reason today not to pursue appropriate care. Get a GI evaluation as soon as possible.

The basics: The stomach entrance is a fold of tissue, not a valve or flap, held closed by circular muscles. Caffeine, nicotine & some foods tend to keep that entrance open, allowing acid backwash. Laying down after meals adds pressure to backwash. Untreated your symptoms can lead to cancer. Your county health department may know a clinic that will treat you on a sliding pay scale. Get seen soon.
