No, the popping sensation comes from the TMJ or temporomandibular joint, not from the teeth themselves. The TMJ is that joint that bridges the lower jaw (mandible) to the rest of the skull, just in front of your ears. As you open and close your mouth, some people feel a popping sensation there.

Not likely Although impacted wisdom teeth can not cause TMJ dysfunction, erupted wisdom teeth can interfere with the bite if not in the proper position, if crowding occurs, teeth ( i.e.wisdom) that are not lined up properly, can interfere with the function /movements of the jaw and put strain inside the joint itself, damage the articulation, the Meniscus can slip or lock and make the popping .

Popping usually signifies that the disc within the joint is popping in and out of position. This can be verified by physical examination in concert with CBCT or MRI. Malpositioned wisdom tooth can cause mechanical interference in how's envelope of motion, but not clicking. Please have your 3rd molars and joints evaluated by an Oral Surgeon.
