Follow up-dentist: Some times compensation and discomfort with TM joint can cause such popping. Remember some teethe grinding movements do continue even with the splint at night, when yo are not aware. Sometimes Ibuprofen helps if pain is associated with it in front of the ears.

May be TMJ: from incomplete closure of the mouth when asleep. usually you will get adjusted to it. if the problem persists may need to change the splint or get it readjusted
