What does swelling of the wrists and ankles indicate?

Many possibilies: If it were just the ankles you would think fluid retention which did very well may be. However with wrist involvement you should be evaluated and tested for other possibilities, including autoimmune disorders; rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus, are examples. Lab tests will help determine possibilities, including infection, autoimmune, and degenerative agents.

Circulation problem: Swelling to the wrists and ankles are usually due to a circulation problem to the extremities. Other causes may be arthritis to the wrists and ankles. See your doctor for your specific problem and treatment.

You have swelling : Of the wrists and ankles....Multiple joint swelling can indicate that you were in shackles...(thats a joke, albeit a possibility), it can also be a sign of an inflammatory arthropathy or connective tissue disease. A rheumatologist would be an appropriate doctor to see.
