I have severe pain from the incision below my sternum from my gall bladder removal 1 year ago. what could it be?

Maybe...: A hernia formation, depending on the size of incision or size the the instruments used at your surgery. Painful tangle of nerve endings (neuroma) also possible. Infection unlikely this long after surgery. Would need to have a physical examination to tell what the possibilities could be.

Different things .: It depends on severity , frequency , what aggravates the pain , what relives the pain. Any relation to food?So many questions , so many possibilities. See the surgeon again, may be an adhesion, may be an ulcer , may be pancreatitis, may be obstructed duct. You better see a doctor , get a sonogram and blood tests to start with.

Unknown: I agree with the othe doctors. See your surgeon so he can examine you and do other tests as necessary. Other dz process hernia etc.
