My cousin is in the last stage of pregnancy. she is recently diagnosed with a clot in a leg which is painful. how serious is this situation.?

Can be very serious: Any blood clot, when pregnant or not, can be life-threatening. I'm sure they put her on a blood thinner to reduce the risk of the clot spreading. Have her follow up with her obgyn right away to keep an eye on it. Good luck.
