Stomach acid and larynpharyngeal cancer?

NOT ASSOCIATED: Laryngo-pharyngeal cancers are usually seen in longtime smokers who present to their physician with hoarseness and sometimes 'sore throat'. Stomach acid from reflux (gerd) can cause similiar symtoms so a referral to an ENT (ear-nose-throat) doctor can be made. An ENT will take a camera (laryngoscope) to look all the way down to vocal cords. Cancer looks like a 'mass', gerd causes irritation.

Unclear question: Smoking alcohol use will increase the risk for both.
