What is the recovery time after a tummy tuck and lipo?

Everyone varies: 5 percent of my patients will tell me it was the worst experience of their lives and took weeks to recover and 5 percent will say they were dancing the next night. 90 percent are somewhere in between. Since we don't cut muscles it usually hurts less than common operations like c-sections which do. Desk jobs can usually be back in one week but no sit-ups for 6 weeks. Strenuous jobs take longer.

1-2 Months: It really depends upon the extent of surgery and your activity level, but 1-2 months is a good "ball park" for the average patient.

Major Recovery: Recovery after tummy tuck surgery is often underestimated by patients and surgeons. I let patients know that this operation is associated with a significant recovery, both from the physical, and often emotional, standpoints. Many patients achieve approximately 70 to 80% of their strength at one month and may require several months before they are back to their full energy level.

Tummy tuck and lipo: Often the recovery after a tummy tuck and liposuction is about 2-3 weeks. Patients will be swollen and sore for weeks to months after the surgery. However, patients can be back to normal activities in 2 weeks. Patients can return all normal daily activities including work (aside from working out) in about 2 weeks and will be unrestricted at 6 weeks.
